Pottermore: for those who just can't get over Harry Potter

Ok, so seriously my last name is Potter so I just can't help myself to love the Harry Potter series.  I mean come on it's a totally amazing book series and movie series that will capture kids and grownups imaginations for generations to come.  Well this week J.K. Rowling finally rolled out Pottermore in more than just a beta form.  Not only can you finally officially get the Harry Potter books in ebook format for your favorite reader but you can participate in the wonderful world of Harry Potter.  It includes classes, games, and just a fun time exploring the site and finding hidden things and excerpts from J.K Rowling additions to the Harry Potter story.  Seriously though go check it out if you are a fan of Harry Potter.

Gaming on the Go: HeroAcademy

Hero Academy is a fun turn based game for all you turn based battling fans out there.  The concept: you have a board with two players similar to a chess board layout and you get characters to play and get special abilities to try and destroy the enemy's crystals.  You get 5 moves each turn and once you are happy with your turns you submit them for the next player to have their turn.  It's in the style of words with friends in that you don't have to keep the app open to get notified when it is your move in the game.  You can connect with friends or play random appoints.  Its free on the iOS app store so I suggest you fire up your iPhone or iPod Touch and give this game a try!

Cool App of the week, NodeBeat

So check out my cool creation I made on the free app of the day over at the Amazon app store for android.  It's a music creation app called NodeBeat.  I downloaded this on my Kindle Fire and was immediately hooked!  You move small "nodes" onto the screen into different sections and as they move on the screen and connect with other noes it makes a cool visual effect as well as music.   You have the ability to record and share this visual music with friends with the included share feature.  This app is available for iOS and android.  I would highly recommend you check it out and if you don't believe me check out my video demo review below.

Felicia Day's New Episode of the Flog.

For all those who love everything Geeky and for those of you who just want to check into our world you have to check out the Youtube channel called Geek and Sundry.  Here is a sample of Felicia Day's show called the FLOG.  I really like it so check it out below!

Getting all multi-game'ish with Dust 514

You may or may not of heard about this game but it is getting closer to launch and I for one am seriously pumped about it.  It comes from CCP the makers of the great sandbox MMO EVE online.  What will set this game apart is the fact that what goes on in EVE will effect what goes on in Dust and vice versa.

check out full details and a video after the break.

Look what happened to Hermione!

OK, so this technically has nothing to do with a tech blog but it has everything to do with a geek blog.  Besides it's  my blog so there!  Seriously though any geek who is anybody loves them some Harry Potter so of course you are interested to see what the cast is up to these days.

Here we have Emma Watson on the set of her new movie "The Bling Ring" and I must say she looks stunning.  I always figured that she would be the one to have the best carrier after the Harry Potter Series.   After all major book to movie series stars or well fantasy/scifi stars usually don't get a chance to do other stuff simply because everyone sees them always in that one role.  Even though I have no idea what this movie is about I am intrigued!  Let's hope this is the beginning of an amazing carrier for her.
