Vizio 8" Tablet review.

So I love Gadgets, hence the reason I am writing a blog now about them.  What I love most though is getting a gadget that I like for an amazing price!  Today that gadget is the Vizio 8"  android tablet.  I have wanted a tablet ever since the original iPad came out but could never justify paying $500 for one.  I already own an iMac, laptop, and an iPhone so I really had no practical reason to spend that much money for something that I truly did not need.  Regardless, deep down I still wanted a tablet.  So Christmas time rolls around and I had some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket and so I started looking and doing research on the kindle fire and what it had to offer.  While doing so, I came across the Woot of the day at woot.com  and they had this Vizio tablet cheaper than the fire and with more features as it seemed from the description.  From what I could tell people either loved it or hated it.  Most of the people who hated it seemed to compare it to the iPad constantly in their opinions of the tablet.  First of all lets be honest comparing a Vizio tablet to an iPad is like saying you don't understand why your Kia doesn't compare to your Lexus.  The Vizio is not an iPad but it is a darn good little tablet that fills its purpose with very few issues for me.  Now if you are looking for an iPad alternative, I have to stay, stick with an iPad you just can't get any better.  If you are looking for a cheaper tablet with a lot of features, travels easily, or just to use as a media device for your home then this tablet would work great.

The Hobbit Trailer

So, I have to admit I wasn't sure what I would think when this film came out. If it ever came out, but after seeing this trailer I have to say my nerd interest has been peaked.   Too bad we have to wait all the way until next December to watch the movie.

I was going to play Skyrim but I took an arrow to the knee!

I was going to play Skyrim today but I took an arrow to the knee I mean I got so involved in the other twelve games I've been playing lately.  OK, so maybe it hasn't been 12 games but I have been caught up in a few.  This time of year there are so many games just thrown into our lap because companies want to take advantage of the holiday buying season.  Which is great when I was in school and had holiday breaks but I don't anymore so yeah its rough.  HAHA anyway some of the games I have been playing have been Skyrim, WOW, and Star Wars the Old Republic.  I really enjoy these games well, WOW is getting kind of boring but that happens a lot I think.  So, what games have you been playing lately?

Take my Survey to the right and let me know what you are playing!  If you don't see the game you are playing on the list don't feel bad simply leave a comment below with the name of the game and why you like to play it!

Spotify!

Drop what you are doing and pay close attention! What's so important you ask.  It has come to my attention that some people out there have never... dare I say it... never heard of Spotify!  I know I couldn't believe it myself.

For those of you who don't know, and its ok I'll forgive you this time, Spotify is a music lovers dream!  If you like music or are obsessed with it then you have to try out Spotify.  No seriously this by far the best thing that has happened to music since the iPod.  I started watching this little gem when it was first introduced in Europe a few years back.  It took off really quickly there and has been trying to get state side for a while.  What took so long you ask?  I blame it on the typical US red tape that happens when music labels and corporations get involved.

What makes Spotify work so great is it allows you to make your own playlists of any songs that they have available and stream them to your computer for FREE.  Yes you heard that right an song for free.  Yes it is streaming only if you choose the free option and I believe you are limited to 20 hours of streaming per month.  If you upgrade to the $4.99 plan you get unlimited streaming to your computer.  If you choose the $9.99 a month plan you get unlimited streaming, offline listening, and streaming, offline listening to your mobile device.  After trying out the free version I quickly switched to the $9.99 premium version to have the offline listening on my iPhone so that I could listen to whatever I wanted while I was driving.

Why Spotify matters.

Can we say end to having any reason to download songs illegally?  I mean if you have access to any song why would you even bother risking it?  Also it would save you a crap ton of money from having to buy songs from iTunes or any of the other pay per track music services.  Those two reasons in my opinion is what will make Spotify the way of the future for the music industry, whether they like it or not.

Yes I know there are other similar services like Rhapsody and I have tried those and they just aren't as intuitive as Spotify.  If you have ever used iTunes then you will feel right at home with Spotify.   Alos Spotify has a great social aspect with its integration with Facebook.  I like being able to see your friends from on the right pane of the app and looking to see what songs my friends are playing the most.

To summarize simply go get this free program and try it out.  I promise you won't be disappointed!
