Troubles in Bioware Land?

So this week has seen the lead writer for Bioware games (most recently SW:TOR) and 3 more senior staff members leave this week.  Does this spell trouble within Bioware?
There have been a lot of reports of members of Bioware feeling rushed by parent company EA to get SW:TOR out in time for the holiday.  A lot of people attribute this to the reason for all the complaints of the end game not feeling so completed.  I myself cancelled my subscription after getting max level because after that story ends its just your typical raid and grind dailies that made me tired of other MMO's.  Is this the case why the endgame doesn't seem so polished we may never know.  Regardless, the lead writer according to massively.com has moved on to more of a main stream writing and the other 3 senior staff members have went on to form their own independent game company to produce what they call an MMORTS type of game supposedly involving Vikings.

Also in the new is another one of Bioware's writers who has been trying to take down her twitter account after a backlash from angry gamers for her supposed comments from an interview back in 2006 that was posted on reedit.com saying that she thinks games should also have a skip the combat button and go to the narrating for games because thats all she cares about.  Interesting take of it, don't think it deserves an angry twitter mob but I don't think many people would choose to skip through a games fighting just to see the story parts only.

Hopefully things will start looking up for Bioware.  I am sure that they had already had people in place to take over these peoples positions.

Need some iPhone game love?

Here it is then.   Lots and lots of iPhone games are one sale though today for only $.99.  Including EA and Gameloft.  I must say that I did spend a lot of gift card credit that I had on some games.  I will do some reviews on them this week and tell you what I think.  Some are new some are old but since some of them went from 7 or 8 bucks to $.99 I couldn't pass it up and neither should you!

Viggle: Get rewarded for watching TV!

So a really cool app was brought to my attention on Wednesday and it is called Viggle.  It is such a great idea. The basic concept is watch TV, open the app, check in, and get paid for watching TV shows!  Once you open it you tap check in and it listens to see what you are watching on TV.  It then gives you points for every few minutes that you watch the show you are watching.  With these points you can redeem gift cards at multiple stores and online outlets.  I think this is a really cool idea and so far it has been pretty good at figuring out what I am watching and giving me points for it.  It also shows you a listing of shows that are on and tells you what shows they are giving extra points.  You can also watch ads on your iphone to allow you to get points that way as well.  Pretty neat idea for getting paid to watch your favorite shows.  This app is available for iOS and Android.  Now keep in mind it will take a lot of points to get small gift cards and even more points to get large dollar gift card, think of it like your point system you probably have on your credit or debit cards.  Try out the app and see how you like it.

Hide your Pictures facebook is activating Timeline for everyone.

For those of you who haven't voluntarily signed up for facebook's timeline feature, you may want to go untag yourself from pictures you may not want others to see.  In about a week facebook will start the full roll-out of the new timeline feature.  You will get an email with in the next few weeks telling you that timeline is enabled from there you will have about a week or so to configure it and get rid of any unwanted posts, pictures, or links from your page before your friends will start seeing your timeline.  There will be no opting in or out of the timeline feature when you receive that email.  So what are you waiting for?  Start cleaning up that profile!

What was the underlying theme for this years CES?

The thing I noticed the most is that TV's TV's everywhere you looked there were TV's.  Yes it would seem that the companies answer to the rapid decline in TV sales over the years is to  make new ones, better ones.  All in hopes that you will start buying more TV's.
We had the world's largets and thinnest TV all the way to  a see through tv.  Yes that's right a see through TV.









I can see why although there were lots of cool things to see at CES.  I can also see how these trade show type events are losing their luster especially with Apple already pulling out of Macworld Expo a years back and now Microsoft saying they will no longer participate in CES.   I wonder how much longer this event will last.  But regardless here are some of the few things that stood out to me the most from CES (that don't involve TV's) and two of the things I want to show you are from companies that I already did reviews on other products of theirs.
